4 Strategies Toward Courage and Change

Change is necessary. For growth, for movement, for keeping up with the dance of life. Life only moves forward. To resist change is to resist the motion that leads you to new places and experiences. Life is a rhythm, a heartbeat, and your actions keep you in its flow. Fear is the greatest factor that gets in the way of change, yet if you use the energy of fear in a positive way, you'll see just how brave you are. Don't allow yourself to become stagnant; it is what you do each day that moves you forward. Courage comes from a smart and strong place within you, and you can tap in to it at anytime. Here are 4 strategies to help you find that courage toward change.

1. Comfort Zones

Comfort zones are great, they offer security and familiarity. However, growth demands a level of discomfort. The greatest changes always occur outside of what is known and accomplished. Each time you emerge out of your comfort zone, it's an investment in a better you. Remember that child within you? Fearless, engaging, open, dynamic, and so willing to experience it all, find that inner child, and welcome every new experience. Make the decision to break out of that ‘protective shell’ and embrace the magic of possibility and potential. When you venture out of your comfort zone, you unleash your potential.

2. Focus on the now

Why dwell in the past and worry about the future? You lose precious time when you lose sight of the here and now; all you have is in the present moment, so use it well. Establish a mental strategy to release fears and worries; align your thoughts positively and think about how you can make progress every day. Aim to be your own best incentive for change; your goals, aspirations and your life focus need your willing participation right now. What you do now starts writing that story of what’s to come, make it great!

“You gain strength, courage, and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face. You are able to say to yourself, 'I lived through this horror. I can take the next thing that comes along.” - Eleanor Roosevelt.

3. Set goals with clarity

Goals offer you direction, meaning, and a sense of purpose. Always have a crystal clear image of what you are aiming for. That clear goal helps to feed your courage and take steps toward it, don’t let that picture of your goal become blurred and out of focus, or you'll never see it through. An essential part of setting goals with clarity is fully believing that they can be achieved. When you approach every goal, you need to envision yourself living your life having accomplished your goal. This will give you the proper motivation you need to succeed.

4. Build your inner confidence.

Your inner confidence is something you strategically build layer upon layer. Your inner confidence is a resounding voice from within that speaks to you and empowers you. Listen to that voice, it's full of wisdom and your deeper knowledge of self, outside of fears and perceived limits. Encourage a positive mind set and keep believing in your abilities. Allow that voice within to become more colorful and vibrant. Self confidence is not brash or arrogant, it's unflinching, and true to the most authentic part of you. Pay it the attention it deserves. Trust your heart and your innate intelligence.

Allow yourself the freedom to make mistakes. The key is to never give up! Progress requires fortitude, resolve, and a limitless frame of mind. Deep down, your inner strength says you can achieve and everything you need lies inherently within you.
