Being productive is essential if you're hoping to grow your business or grow as a person. Not every day will be a productive day and there will also be days when you struggle to complete small tasks. As long as you're trying, that's what really counts. If you're looking for some motivation, here are some tips that will help you increase your productivity and achieve more each day.

1. Switch off

Phones can be a huge distraction, so if you have a long list of things to do, then it's a good idea to turn your phone off or at least leave it in a place where you won't be tempted to pick it up. The more you glance at your phone, the more distracted you become and the less work you get done. Increasing your productivity can really be as simple as switching off until your work day. If you can't turn off your phone, earn that time by focusing on your work to reaching a good stopping point.

2. Create and maintain a routine

Without a routine, it can be difficult to stay focused. Of course, sticking to the same routine every day can become repetitive and dull, but it's good so you have a sense of direction. This can be as simple as creating a list or spreadsheet at the start of the working day of to keep track. It's important not to push yourself too hard as this will only decrease your productivity, so only set tasks that you know you will be able to complete. Also, make sure you include things like eating and resting in your routine. It's easy to forget but it makes a huge difference to how focused you are throughout the day.

3. Never skip meals

Some people choose to skip breakfast because they feel like they don't have enough time in the mornings and others simply forget to eat lunch as they're too focused on work. Although skipping meals every now and again seems harmless, it can often turn into a habit. Eating breakfast, lunch, and dinner is so important if you want to maintain your productivity. After all, it's hard to stay focused when your stomach is rumbling.

4. Get active

If your job requires you to sit down for long periods, then it's so important to make sure you get up and go for a walk whenever you can. When you're sitting and staring at a screen all day, it can be mentally and physically draining, which is why it will benefit you to get active. You don't even have to leave your office - there are exercises you can do indoors to get your heart pumping, allowing you to think clearly and feel more motivated.

5. Complete the worst task first

Chances are there's something on your to-do list that you always put off until the last minute. Maybe you don't know where to start or it's something that you don't particularly enjoy doing. Whatever the reason is, it's best to take care of it first thing in the morning. Think of it this way - after you've got it out of the way you won't have to think about it for the rest of the day. You'll feel glad that it's completed and you can focus your time on other tasks.
