8 Daily Steps to Help You Seek Your Potential

At one point or another you have probably felt like you're not living up to your potential. You may have even had others tell you that you're capable of so much more than you are settling for. What good does all that potential do just sitting on the shelf? What good does being capable do you if you don't act on your capablities? Potential cannot be quantified, it has to be cultivated. To reach your potential, you have to attain a successful mindset, and chase your goals every day. Here are 8 things you can start with today to become better than you were yesterday.

1. Keep your eyes and mind open

We all miss countless opportunities to maximize our potential and better our lives. We get stuck in the same routines day in and day out, failing to recognize all the opportunities that surround us. Keeping your eyes open and an open mind will help you to recognize opportunities and encourage you to follow a path you may not have considered. Doing this can help you find a role in the world, or help you find a talent you didn't know you had.

2. Work on your strengths

Your greatest achievements will likely be a product of your strengths. Expect to spend some time fully developing your ability to apply your strengths to all aspects of your life. Working on what you're good at will only make you improve, which will set you up for sustained success and brand new opportunities.

3. Find a mentor

Finding a mentor who has already walked a mile in your shoes long before you gave your goal(s) a thought will be extremely beneficial to your success. Odd are a potential mentor has experienced a similar kind of struggle before they became successful. This will help you manage problems before they even come, and encourage you to keep going when they arrive. Also, a mentor will be able to connect you with opportunities that you might not have had going at your goals without any sage wisdom.

4. Set goals

You've heard this time and time again, but really think about how important goals are to your success. How do you know where you are going if you never took the time to plot out your ambitions? Having a lack of ideas of where your goals will take you will almost certainly lead to disappointment. Taking the time to map out each step and methodically work your way through your goal is the best chance at success you'll have.

5. Be assertive

Stand firm in who you are and what you want in your life. Don't be afraid to ask for exactly what you want. No one has ever been able to get what they want from standing passively aside and simply hoping for the best. Don't be afraid to take the reigns.

6.Step outside the norm

Do something different. So many of us get stuck in the same routine day in and day out, never taking the time to rise the occasion and change our lives. If you pay attention to those who have achieved the most, you'll see that they stepped out of the ordinary, and continue to do so today. Successful people are always trying to be the benchmark, the pinnacle of success in which others strive for. Take your opportunity to shine.

7.Focus on doing instead of thinking

Stop overthinking every little thing and take some action. While thought process is often valuable, it can only get you so far. If the desire to take action is always on your mind, it's the time to start. Even if it doesn't seem like you're ready yet, think of it as an opportunity to learn and focus on what you really want.

8. Work hard, work smart

Be smart about the activities that you choose to spend your time on. Working hard on something that you care nothing about will not help you reach your potential. Work on things that matter to you and make you happy.

We may not get everything we wanted in life, but we always have to take the opportunity to try. Now is the time for you to make the decision to become the best possible version of yourself. Find a mentor and make an intelligent plan. Work that plan to the best of your ability. Soon enough, you'll accomplish more than you thought was ever possible, and then you'll keep striving for more.
