9 Ways You Are Holding Yourself Back From Happiness

1. You won't let go of past mistakes.

One of the most important lessons you will ever learn in life is forgiveness. Sometimes, it's easier to forgive others before forgiving yourself. It takes strength and courage to learn from your mistakes. Let go of the past, and concentrate on building a better future.

2. Relying on others for your happiness.

Human interaction and spending time with loved ones definitely contributes to our levels of happiness. However, it becomes a problem when you become too emotionally dependent on other people. Happiness starts with learning to enjoy your own solitude. After all, the only person you can truly depend on is yourself.

3. Staying in your comfort zone.

Many of us don't have the desire to evolve once we establish a life that we're comfortable with. Stepping out of that comfort zone and taking risks is daunting but it can also be incredibly rewarding in so many ways. You can't let the possibility of failure, fear, or embarrassment stop you from living life to the fullest. You must try, and if you fail, you'll at least know you gave it your all.

4. Not believing in yourself.

No dream is too big. If you are persistent and hard-working, you can achieve anything. There will be times when you will feel like it might be easier to give up rather than risk another failure, but that's when you need to start pushing yourself the most. Don't start doubting yourself now - you will get there. When you build up your confidence, and become assured in your capabilities, you'll start accomplishing one goal after the other.

5. Focusing on the negatives.

Are you the type of person who concentrates on the negatives rather than appreciating what you have? It's time to change this way of thinking. Negative thoughts lead to a negative outlook on life and ultimately, this will hold you back from ever being happy. If there is something you want in life, figure out a way to go out and get it. Don't just dwell on the fact that others have it better than you, it only makes you unhappier and even more apathetic.

6. Not giving yourself time to rest.

You dedicate most of your time to work, but do you ever get to spend time with your family and close friends? It's important to find a balance between your career and personal life. Setting time aside for yourself and your loved ones will improve your mental health and in turn give you a better outlook on life. One of the best aspects of life is the connections that we make other people. You could have all the money in the world, but personal wealth doesn't come close to having great friends and family in your life. Don't take it for granted.

7. Keeping negative people in your life.

The people around us can impact the way we think and the decisions we make. If there are people in your life who are not supporting you or contributing to your happiness, then there's no reason to keep them around. Also, if you're setting out to achieve something, it's important to have people around who SUPPORT you

8. Not connecting with others.

Ultimately, life is about forming deep and personal connections - we need it to survive. If you start interacting with others more frequently, you will notice a considerable difference in your overall happiness and outlook on life. Lean on others for help and for their companionship. It's good to have people in your corner through difficult times.

9. Feeling like you're running out of time.

Even though it might seem like it, there's no time limit to accomplishing your dreams and discovering your happiness. In life, everyone moves at different paces. You're not competing with anyone else - the only person who is in control of your life is you.
