How to Reduce Your Chronic Stress

If you suffer from chronic stress, you need to focus on healing your adrenal gland. How can you heal your adrenal gland? Well, there is a simple and inexpensive solution:

One of the most important nutrients for healthy adrenal function is salt (sodium). Sodium is needed to drive the synthesis of adrenal hormones. While it is well known that unrestricted salt in the diet can lead to water retention, the adoption of low-sodium diets by many people to control water-weight gain can disrupt the normal functioning of the adrenals. You should consider using reasonable amounts of (lightly salting) of sea salt to provide a broad range of minerals and support the synthesis of important adrenal hormones. People who are chronically adrenal exhausted will crave salt, sometimes uncontrollably.

Calcium and magnesium are important anti-stress minerals. Magnesium slows the release of epinephrine and norepinephrine from the adrenal medulla, which makes it a critical mineral for balancing the sympathetic (exciter) nervous system response.

Charles Poliquin, a world renown personal trainer who is responsible for hundreds of medals, wins and personal bests for many elite athletes in over 17 different sports including athletes from summer and winter Olympics, the NHL, and NFL. He explains how to take care of your adrenals. To paraphrase Charles:

While breakfast is the single most important meal to consume, you should consume this lime juice drink prior to breakfast.

  • 1 glass of water
  • 1 shot of freshly squeezed lime juice (usually 1-2 limes)
  • 1/4 teaspoon of colored salt (gray, pink, blue, etc).

Charles said white salt can be used on food but not for this recipe.                                   

There are more minerals in the colored salt than white salt. Lets say you use gray Celtic salt first. Once you have finished the container of salt, switch to a different color for minerals, pink Himalayan salt for example. Mix the three ingredients together and enjoy before breakfast.

The goal for consuming the lime juice is to ensure an optimal and healthy adrenal gland. Because freshly squeezed lime juice (naturally high in salt), it pairs well with the colored salt which has minerals (calcium, iron, potassium and magnesium) in it. Make sure that it is the first thing you consume in the morning. Because it is consumed first, the salt will make its way to your system quickly to ensure a healthy functioning adrenal gland.
