How To Save Money By Ditching Junk Foods

When it comes to eating healthy, one may make one a variety of excuses for why they have to continue eating those fast food hamburgers and potato chips. However, it does not have to be that way. Eating healthy can quite easily be far cheaper than its junk food cousin, all you have to do is a small amount of planning!

"But I don't have time to cook!"

The biggest excuse that we make when it comes to eating healthy is not having enough time to do it. We have plenty of time to cook, we just want to allocate that time to leisure activities like Facebook, or watching TV. Meal Prepping is a great way to get all of your cooking done in just a few hours on one day, making snacks, dinners, lunches, etc, so you don't have to worry about cooking for up to a week afterward! You can put these meals in the refrigerator or freezer to have meals to go without having to worry too much about time constraints.

"Healthy food is just too expensive!"

We think this is a reality due to the Instagram posts that advocate avocado on everything and expensive smoothie bowls and green smoothies. However, it is very easy to be healthy by just buying far cheaper vegetables and fruit. Also, canned and frozen produce is still good for you, even if you cannot buy fresh if that is an issue that you have with healthy foods.

You can shop for very cheap deals on produce if your supermarket has seasonal produce for sale or bruised fruit for a discounted price. There is nothing wrong with using frozen spinach or slightly misshapen carrots in your vegetarian curry, in fact, you will not even be able to taste the difference.

"Healthy Food is too bland and complicated!"

Eating healthy foods does not mean that you have to live a life of kale and quinoa salads. In fact, you never have to eat those foods in order to be healthy. There are a wide variety of sauces, spices, and herbs that you can have on hand that will make the difference in the flavor of your food. If the prospect of healthy foods doesn't excite you, just look a little harder. Odds are that you'll find healthy options that you enjoy. There aren't as many limitations as you think.

So instead of spending up to 4$ a bag for potato chips, or 5$ for a pint of ice cream, try some baked potato fries, or a frozen berry and banana parfait instead. You will save a ton of money, and still be able to enjoy a lot of that delicious flavor.
