Should You Be Losing Or Releasing Your Body Fat?

"My #1 goal is to lose body fat."

This is one of the most common answers I hear when asked, "Why are you here to see me?"

I understand what the individual is saying, but I do try to adjust their mentality towards body fat reduction. I ask if they are trying to release body fat instead. "Huh?" is their reply as an eye brow raises in questioning my adjustment in the question. I, then, explain for the adjustment in vocabulary. "You see, after we lose something, what do we try to do? We try to find it. If I lose my keys to my car, I try to find them. When you lose your body fat and get to the percentage you want to be, I do NOT want you to go searching for it and gain the weight back. When you release something, you do not go searching for it to be put back into your life.

For example, when a prisoner is released from prison, they aren't trying to get put back into prison." A smile arises from the member now that they understand the mindset. Then they re-answer my first question as to why they are here to see me,

"My #1 goal is to release body fat."
